I think if you are serious about it and work hard, there's nothing youcan't do. Just remeber that things you may do as a young person can be brought up in the future so start by making good choices now and keep working at it. I think it would be awesome if you were president, not b/c of your ethnic background, but because you know what you want to be at 14 and president is a giant goal to have. I hope you reach it little brother!

Right now African Americans are only 12% of the population, if in 22 years that number can get up to about 40% you might have a chance. At the current numbers the vast majority of white folks just won't have it. As an example of how people think, watch a boxing match, it doesn't matter who as long as it's a white guy vs a black guy. The audience at big fights are always overwhelmingly white. Notice that when the black fighter throws a punch and lands it directly on the chin you get very little response, but when the white guy throws a punch even if he doesn't hit his target the audience is on it's feet whooping up a storm. That's the way it is in America, White guys feel the need to be in charge and until the numbers say they can't, which one day they will, all you can do is be prepared. In the mean time do your part to keep your brothers from targeting each other, it only diminishes our numbers.

You might have heard a joke that goes something like this:
"The luck of being able to have 42 straight BLACK presidents is something that will never come to be. We have had 42 white men in the office, but the possibility of having 200 years worth of black men, or black anyone, in office, in a row, is near impossible! You could get to the 41st president, and the the 42nd is white, and BAM, you have to start all over!"
Honestly, I would love to see some unification of a different race in the office of president, but it is a hard sell. Some have tried (Not Al Sharpton, the other one...can't recall his name now), and obviously have failed...but while there are very outspoken organizations on races, the majority of the US is not racially divided, in the sense that we can't get along. Sure, it's true that generally white ethnicities will bond together, and black or mexican or whatever ethnicities will hang with their own groups, rather than live in mixed neighborhoods (and some of that is economically forced, I'm not ignorant) but we can work together, talk together, spend time hanging out, enjoy the same sports, so on and so on, and it's not so bad.
I don't know if we will see a different race as president soon, but I think it will happen. I'll be looking for you in about 25 years...Good Luck!

Unfortunately, there are WAY too many people who are prejudice!! You do what you think you need to do, and follow your dreams. Don't let anyone tell you , you can't do something just because you are african-american!! Just keep being the best person you can be, and you can do anything your heart desires!!
I am white, and if I thought you would be the best choice for president in 22 years, I would vote for you!!! Good luck to you!!

You have a lot to get done in that 22 years. In order to run for president and have a chance you'll want to build a political career first. It's totally possible, you just have to have a game plan. Could you handle people talking about you like people talk about Bush? Just wondering..

If I were you I would do everything possible to become president. It's attitudes like that keep people from trying. Do it my friend, I would like to see it happen.
Remember that Clinton was an attorney first.

Your mom is wrong - my son is 14 and wants to be a soccer star - now, he's only ok, but I'd never say that to his face. We encourage him in everything, and tell him he needs a back-up education "just in case" - wink, wink - he gets it. Go for it - aim as high as you can and go where your dreams take you!
