In my lifetime Bill Clinton, he was the most successful at running the business of the country. I go back to Eisenhawer. He was the last one before Clinton to have a grasp of reality, FDR was great but he was before my time. Kennedy might have been but wasn't in office long enough to make enough difference. So I think Bill Clinton was the best.

Let's see...FDR signed the executive order to have Japanese and Germany imigrants in the US put into internment camps where many died...Kennedy was good but was busy with Marilyn...Clinton was a great politician, probably the best politician to sit in the Oval Office with a cigar...Lincoln did a lot but may have been gay (not that there's anything wrong with that)...gonna have to say Reagan. Much of the economic growth that occurred during the '90's was due to his maneuvering in the '80's. Just like GW inheritted a recession from Clinton, Clinton inheritted a boom from the previous administrations. So Reagan, horrible actor, great president.

To date, the best President is Harry S. Truman. President Truman is the only man to ever walk our planet that had the guts to end a war that was certain to rage on and on by giving the order to drop nuclear ordinance on the Empire of Japan. Without that leadership during a REAL war, he single-handedly stopped the Germans, Italians and Japanese from destroying the earth.

The best U.S. president (I assume that is the country you mean) was, imho, FDR. Lincoln a close second. Both were giant leaders in terms of both fundamental progressive shifts in domestic policy and protecting the United States through the country's two most threatening wars.
