We like closure and seek resolution.

Unanswered questions, like tasks undone, make us feel uneasy.

This natural tendency is due to the fact that we humans are social beings who thrive on the exchange of information (i.e., communication). This is manifested most severely in individuals who answer even when they are not being asked (attention defiency). The norm is, of course, responding to questions when being asked as this creates a sense of connection and affirmation of one's self existence. In other words, most people respond to questions, not so much as to help (pseudo-altruism), but more to declare that they exist: I answer questions therefore I think. I think therefore I am. In YahooAnswers, it reaffirms one's existence in an alter-reality (the Web).
