It's just your age i suspect. As you reach your teens you get more self consious, making you come across as shy. The fact that you are now at a point in your life where you really want a girlfriend, you are trying even harder to impress, and that added to the shyness makes it difficult for you to talk to girls. You just need to relax, put finding a girlfriend on the back burner and concentrate on being yourself. Then girls will come to you!
