Because schools won't teach about prevention. I live in Canton, OH, and 64 of our HS girls are pregnant. You would think the schools would allow Planned Parenthood to come in and talk about prevention, protection and educate people about their bodies. Nope! The "school" thinks that abstinence only is key. Of course, parents aren't helping either as they themselves did not receive proper education. Educate yourself, and then educate your children. Start early!!!! It should NOT be up to the schools to teach your children anyway.

It's a lot of reasons. They think it won't happen to me or they haven't learnt about how to use birth control properly. All so when ur that young ur friends opinions mean more than your parents so if ur bf says i want to do it without a condom the girl most likely will. I think it's also alot deeper than that. Men often aren't handed as much responsibility, they just think omg i have a baby, and I'll give a little money every now and then. Women have to do a lot more most of the time. If we install good principles in our sons as well as daughters we can stop it. But most parents want to be their children's friends. Another one is the girls want someone to love them and they are searching for more responsibility, in that case get them a job, and get them involved in voluntary work. Hope i helped to answer ur question.

Actually condoms don't always work!
Some girls want attention and other think you can't really get pregnant all the time.

A: they're too embarassed to buy condoms (and yes, it's deff the girls responsibility cuz the guys don't think most of the time of the consequences)
B: their parents are in denial and won't put their little girls on birth control. when I turned 15, my mom took me to the girl dr and they put me on the pill. I didn't start having sex right away but I knew that I was semi protected. And if parents want to protect their kids so much, why don't they put their girls on the pill. it's protecting them somewhat from loosing out on their childhood and having to grow up way too fast....think about it!

Not only are condoms available but the pill. Parents, schools and government in general try to pretend teens are not sexual beings, sort of if you do not talk about it or pretend it does not happen it will go away.

sometimes they know what a condom is but look at the boards kids are being taught poorly about contraception and sex!!

every parent who has a child who is 12 years of age or older needs to talk to the kid about sex and not just "save sex for marriage" crap!

kids need all the information including how pregnancy happens, what stds are, where to get std testing, where to get contraceptives and how to use them!

Also girls need to know they need to start having a yearly pap smear the year they start there period! so many parents neglect there daughters and run the risk of having cancer that can cause infertility being undetected it makes me sick.

I think the guys are just as guilty as the girls are. They need to be more educated on sex. Too bad some parents aren't really educated on sex to teach their children about it. If parents won't do it, then I say they should teach it in school. In my school their is a sex-ed class to bad it's not a mandatory class where they make everyone take it. We even have a day care so the girls with their babies can still go to school. I mean wtf you would think with having a day care in High School and seeing those kids every day you would think twice about having sex!!!

It's alarming that many of them actually plan it. They think it will complete them or make them happy or it's a way to trap their boyfriend.

I see so many posts from teens who want a baby because they are "cute" or they are lonely. Really sad.

I really dont know why they get pregnant, maybe they think the man providing everything they want is easier and better than them working hard to get it themself.
