India makes great bollywood movies (i'm a big fan), they have tremendous poverty that still needs to be overcome, but those that are educated are educated extremely well. India needs to value girls more and stop aborting girls. They are on the verge of an AIDS catastrophe, but through education and public service campaigns there is the potential to stem the tide. Indian women are the best dressed in the world when they are wearing traditional dress and Punjabis seem to have taken over the world.

What an interesting question. I guess my first impression is that the people of India are starving and living in poverty. I'm not sure if that's true for most of them though. Then they started surfacing in the technological fields and they are very smart people. We feel a little intimated by them, especially since some of our companies are hiring them instead of us. On our end, it's frustrating when we call a help desk and speak to someone from India. Their heavy accent and distortion of the way they speak English is difficult to have a conversation with. Regarding food, I went with a couple of girls from work one time to an Indian food restaurant, but the strange and spicy flavors did not taste good to me. So you see, I'm an American girl, but very limited in my exposure to the people of India.

I m a very proud Indian and I believe that10 yrs. frm now India wud be one of the greatest superpowers of the world & as most people on this board believe that India is nothing more than poverty and starvation. Let me tell u that most of the world's successful people today are of Indian origin. Also, our nation is a perfect example of an effortless blend of our rich cultural heritage and modernisation.

to be frank, a comedian of indian decent, i think, Russell Peter thinks everyone in the world are not quite used to the indian accent when they're speaking in english.then there's poverty.but on the flipside, Indians are gifted in the field of science and IT and the Ms India representative in almost every annual Miss Universe Pageants are drop dead gorgeous.
