Pen and pencil will have equal significance as it has now. Mere technology cant replace them.

Not going to "succede" them in the near future. If the power goes out, you cant pay your bills on the computer, or write a report, or make a grocery list, etc...
You can if you have a pen/pencil and paper or checkbook.
It is the ultimate dream of an office though to have a paperless office and many are working on it.

pen and pencil did already pre (before) cede the computer. ie they came before the computer. it think what you meant to say is succede. anyway this is not going to happen while we still have plenty of natural recources that can drive technology. if civilization reverts back to pen and pencil civilization will go back to the technologies of yester-year.
most likely this will never happen in our life time...
