Why does Hurley keep getting bigger when all he is eating is fruit ? I mean he should have crapped all the weight out of him by now surely ??

Perhaps you missed the episode where they explained this. He has a serious food addiction. When the original cache of food was found he hoarded a bunch for himself - eating ranch dressing by the handful, etc... With Libby's help, he confronted this and got rid of the food... just as a mysterious new supply arrived (though he didn't hoard any this time)
Hurley's weight could change now, but adly Libby is gone now, his source of strength - in the end it depends on the actor. (he can't shed a lot of weight between seasons or episodes... because while 2 years have passed in the real world, they've only been on the island something like 90 days...
Tricky for the production team to deal with...

Because Lost is a TV programme and the actor playing him is a real person! Perhaps the producers or whatever haven't asked him to lose weight? Just enjoy the programme and stop worrying about this - it's great!

Well he hid all that food from the hatch, that could have something to do with it or maybe it's because the actor is gaining intead of losing......personally i think he's been getting thinner.

Well two reasons really... One he had a big stash of junk food he "borrowed" from the hatch.Two it's just a TV show, it's not real!!!!

He said it is to do with his metabolism... Some people do have a thyroid problem that makes them larger without having to eat...
