I have a 14 yr old and a 16 yr old daughter.
I have given them both the sex talk and given them condoms. This is not giving them premission but if I believe that they won't do it simply because I tell them don't do it I'm a fool and they're in danger.
Girls go and buy a pack of your own condoms keep them with you in your purse and tell your b/f NO GLOVE, NO LOVE it might just save your life.

Some parents will say, "Use a condom", but not really go into sex education. Heck, some adult women WITH children don't know the difference between the vulva and the vagina. This is very important to education as well. Scaring children w/information about diseases works for awhile - they need the rest of the information too. To do this though, parents need to first educate themselves. I'm a Passion Parties consultant and just did a party the other night. The hostess has two children, and didn't know her urethra was separate from her vaginal opening. This is not the first time this has come up. Parents need to educate themselves, and THEN they can educate their children on sex, their bodies, diseases, and how to tell when something is wrong.

that's good that you had a sex talk with your children. I'm 17 now and my parents never had a sex talk with me. I had to learn on my own. I have chosen to be sexually active and have used a condom every time. I know I still run risks but better then not using one!!

I totally agree. I firmly believe that the reason there are so many teenage pregnancies are because of that.
You can say "don't have sex", but teaching them that if they do, to be responsible is what makes the difference.

Very wise move on your part. Ignorance and pretending teens are not sexual beings lead to unwanted babies and STD's. You are a very wise mom and what you've done shows you care about their health.

Idk why some parents are not teaching their kids about safe sex. Its nice you helped to prepair your daughters. My mom taught me but i had to go out and buy my own "supplies". I think it is some who think the school will teach thier kids but that isnt true. Our health and sex ed was lousy learn it yourself type stuff.
