I work people in a social care setting and manage catering. I need to be able to cater for people from thnic backgrounds. To start with i would like to gain an insight into the cultural/ethnic festivals eg Indian. Chinese, Croatin, Jewish and the types of foods they eat at their festivals with pictures and recipes. Also some information on the religious festival itself. Thank you

Christmas=Turkey (in most colder parts of the world), christmas pudding, christmas cake and generally lots and lots of food!

Shrove Tuesday = Pancakes

Easter=Lamb (easter eggs!)

For Welsh People on St Davids Day (our patron day) we eat traditional Welsh food such as Cawl, bara brith, bara lawr and welshcakes.

I'm afraid thats all I really know about so probably not much use!

May I suggest you contact the religious leaders (vicar, rabbi, Imam) or (and this will may sound silly!) you local takeaways!

Another idea is to actually talk to the people where you work and ask them!
India has Hindus and Sikhs. Croatia has Moslems and Christians (but I don't know what sort of Christian). China has Confucianism, Taoism (Daoism), Buddhism and Tibetan Buddhism (as well as those already mentioned)
However, for China you may be thinking of the Chinese New Year.
Unfortunately, I do not know enough about any of these religions so cannot give you any advice - just places to go for advice!

When you have some ideas of the festivals and their names, you could always ask again for more information!

Good luck with your preparations - and may the food taste as good as the effort you put into researching it! I just hope the diners appreciate it!
