Where are you leaving from? If it's the Continental U.S., hopefully it's a plane you're driving. Maybe you can borrow a sub from the Russians.
Where in Alaska are you going? How many dogs do you own?Other than that, I'd say get yourself a map, and figure the rest out.

The only way to drive to Alaska is the overland route through Canada. I would contact the tourism bureaus for British Columbia and Yukon Territory, the provinces you'd be traveling through, to get information about what the road conditions will be like. According to Google maps, a trip from Seattle to Anchorage will require 2 days and 8 hours of driving time.

i dont know about the best way to drive to alaska, but if you dont want to break down i can tell you to get all of your fluids flushed before you go. oil, coolant, gear oil, tranny fluid, brake fluid, power stearing fluid. also bring an extar bottle of each just incase. make sure your tires are the the right presure, and make sure your spare is also inflated. give your car a tune up as well. spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, all of these things will help with gas millage. other then that you should be in good shape.
good luck.
