A real friend is someone you can count on to be honest with you, no matter how painful the truth is. A friend is someone who understands you, no matter where you have been, where you are now and where you want to go to someday. A friend always have a ready shoulder for you to cry on, an ear that always listens to your tales of joys and woes and arms that can hug you whenever you need it. A friend is someone you can tell your nastiest secrets to yet still be there for you.
I have a tons of friends but about 5-6 I can call my best friends. I am well-blessed for I have such great friends. They are angels on earth! :)

Real friend, is one who is everything, JESUS said "from now on I call you friends" and HE is the only example of a real freind, who gave HIS life for me and you, there can not be any other example for a real freind.

someone who will be there whenever you need them..... i have been friends with someone since high school(now 30 something) and although we only speak once a month, if that , i know and she knows that if we ever need anything(even just to talk) we would stop whatever we are doing to be there for one another
