I read that my irish ancestry in north america, was as a slave sold of by the english soldiers and officers, and that a black slave was worth more than an irish one, is it wrong to think that i could ever relate to what they have been though?

no it is not wrong to think that.

Not to sound racist but and not that I don't think that blacks should have been treated the way they were but they were not the only people that were slaves at any given time.

If you go back in history Romans had slaves and they were also of the same race.

We as Americans dedicate a month to African Americans for what seems to right something that was wrong. If that is the case why not do the same for the American Indians, as the settlers took their land from them and other cultures as well.

I don't think you can, you are seperated from your Irish ansectors by too many generations. Im in Ireland and all my ancestors were slaves to the English landlords, but it's different circumstances and the Irish were granted their freedom a lot earlier than the black people. Plus black people these days are still suffering abouse because of their colour. They also had the likes of the Ku Klux Klan to contend with.

How could you? What attatchment do you have to the situation your ancestor was in? Look, every ethnic group has been enslaved at some point in history but black history is the most recent. African Americans didn't truly have there freedom until the 70's. You are separated by too many generations to sympathize with them. Unless, I suppose you live in Northern Ireland.

The biggest difference, of course, is that if you choose to tell no one about your slave ancestor, no one will know. That's not exactly the same for the average North American, or West Indian Black person.

On the other hand, having ancestors who went through that experience means you hardly have to apologize for supposed "white privilege" either.
