Not at all despised, ignored totally, but not dispised.

Astrology might be an art, -but certainly it's not a 'science' in the way real 'scientist' could do something with it.

Astronomy (at the current time), like Astrology and meteorology and seismology and psychology is a neo science. Why do legitimate scientists disagree (steady state or big bang), why does science attempt to defeat religion and then give us a "theory" that almost reads like Genesis (in the begining there was dark and then light burst forth and then the heavens were formed and then the planets were formed and seas separated from land and creatures came forth -- that's both Big Bang and Chapter 1 of Old Testament). Where is the end of the universe? Where is the begining? What is dark matter? What is light matter? We won't really know until we go there and when we find out what a "black hole" actually is it may make Astronomy from the year of 2006 look like Astrology from the year 3 BC! Astrology was the origin of Astronomy. They charted the skies, the predicted the return of planets. It is math and physics that is the REAL science (and even math has "irrational" numbers like PI and E that go on to infinity). Math and physics is what found Pluto, Astronomy only confirmed it visually. As for astrology, if you've never had a custom chart made for you'll never know the truth! As for the pull of things, why is the cycle of a woman based on the Moon? Menstration, ovulation, all Lunar in origin. If something like the Moon can raise billions of pounds of water six feet, what can it do to you? Has science ever raised the ocean even an inch? Do we have a Star Trek Tractor beam that can raise the Atlantic Ocean even 1/2 an inch? The Moon does a very good job of this. The solar system is a blanace of physical objects (physics again). If MARS were to vanish tomorrow what would happen to the Earth over the next 100 years? What if that "eqilibrium" ceased? Astrology pins traits onto people based upon events of physics (what does Psychology do in placing traits on people and that's a science). On "equilibrium." I have a friend who's a Pisces and one day she loves her man and six hours later she hates him. The fish that swims in both directions. I have several friends who are "Moon Children" or Cancer and they love the water, zig zag around to get to one place or anothers, moving just like a crab. Saggitarians are bittingly frank. You'll NEVER find a Libra that frank! Libras are always well this and on the other hand that and on the other hand this again. Astrology deals in "inclinations." Free will and social environment always can override, but the fact remains that the average Aries does many things and does them quite well and is very independent, hates a master and is argumentative. If we take these observations and apply the rules of science to them we can actually predict things, thus is can be a science. If I know a given person's astrology sun sign I can predict general behavior. I can predict many factors about them. I can predict the average "Cancer" will not take a straight road to a given point, but will take the "scenic" route and lots of secret back streets. A strong rising sign (like Aries) or a strong Moon sign can amend this. Astronomers only theorize what a "black hole" is based upon observations of something billions and billions of miles away. Go vist one and you're whole view may change. Once upon a time Astronomers thought Mars had primitive life and water, even canals. Then we go there and find out it looks like the Moon. Well, that's one good theory down the drain! We send ships there to "find life" and get "results" and then they say, well it could also be an inorganic chemical reaction. Gees! Can't they even get their experments right? Tell me, when will it rain next? When is the "big one" coming? Do we have a day, a time an hour or is it like the Religious people saying 666 is coming on 6-6-2006! Ooops, didn't happen so it must be coming on 6-6-3006!!!!

Anyone see any differences between mythology and soft science?

Because science can find no cause and effect relationship between the positions of the planets and events on Earth, except for the tides, which are primarily due to the Moon. By what possible mechanism could the position of Saturn cause you to fall in love or get a new job or any of the things astrologists are always telling you about? And how accurate is it? People believe what they want to believe and ignore what they want to ignore and astrologists will tell you what you want to hear. That is why they say they need to talk to you and not just look at the planets to give an accurate reading, because the reading is more about what the astrologist thinks you want to hear than it is about the planets.

Over the thousands of years that astrology has been used the stars and planets have changed position (everything rotates) but that isn't taken into account with astrology.

Astrology has been shown to be completely incorrect.Scientist have used statistical and mathematical tools to show no connection whatsoever between what it predicts and what actually happens. So it cannot be verified by scientific means that's all.
