mourning??
They had a good run no doubt about it. Gave the caines a good hard time... But remember Oilers have 5 Stanley Cups, Caines have 1. Thats not gonna change for a very very long time!. Not to mention better team?? Why is everyone suddenly forgetting that the oilers lost their best player, Dwayne Roloson. Had he survived game 1, the Cup would have been in the Oilers hands in game 6. Let's not forget that shall we?? So considering that the back goal tender did do pretty good for the amount of time he had, i'd say they did pretty good. :)
Caines deserving win??? Sure they worked hard, but the Oilers have true heart, passion and commitment - the oilers undoubtedly deserved it much more! Carolina fan's didnt seem to into it and definitely uncomparable to the oilers fans, and what about that stupid cheerleader that sucked *** at singing the national anthems... holycrap I almost had to plug my ears.

Not Mourning - as the 8th seeded Oilers did great! They worked hard and made it a fantastic Playoff run! Proud of the Oilers!

I think we have to look at the Oilers season as a success. They came back (even from injury and deficits) to come very close to winning the cup.
On the bigger picture, only one year into the new rules and salary cap, it's refreshing to know that players can win in any city, not just the big market ones that can pay the most. I think that is a success for the NHL as a whole.

Having been born and raised in North Carolina, no, I am not mourning the Oilers this morning. They played an awesome game and series though. I was happy to see the Canes pull it out. I never cared a thing for hockey till I watched the Canes play in December for my nieces' birthday. Now I am hooked. I am glad Cam Ward was MVP. He deserved it.

Considering they were down 3-1 and rallied for 2 straight to get into a 7th game - I wouldnt call it a setback. Best NHL finals in awhile - I think there were a few 2:30 straight runs in the 3rd period alone. Non stop action, clean hitting and only 1 blown call.

I hurt last night when they didn't quite get there. They made an incredible run, especially in game 6. I'm a Stars fan, but when they were knocked out I fell back to Edmonton. Besides, anybody who knocks out the Red Wings in the first round is okay in my book. heh More importantly, no 8th seed team had EVER made it to the championship before, and it would have been incredible to see them win it.
Better luck next year, I suppose. Let Carolina have their fun, since they've never had it before. One year they just might win it deservedly. heheh

We're celebrating Carolina's victory, but not dancing on the Oilers' graves. Buffalo's and New Jersey's graves we dance on. The Oilers are a scrappy team with awesome fans. Maybe some other time.

Yeah. i'm a diehard Oilers fan. i presumed they could be making a push for the playoffs yet without Smitty it dowsn't appear as if it. they could resign Smyth interior the low season yet i can think of alot of different communities will decide for him. Ryan Smyth is super, his loss wiil harm the Oilers. it is a tragic day for Oilers followers. :(

Yes they had a great run and did their best. BUT living in NC I got to be happy with this Stanley Cup and I am not in mourning for another team right now.
