Iraq is definitely a tragic war because it is fuelled by greed and religious fanatiscism on all sides. In this way, it can be said to be as tragic as, at least, the Vietnam war.
World War One had no point. The original purpose of the war was to help the nobility and the upper classes of Europe get richer. Unfortunately, it evolved into a war where nearly 20 million people died, making it probably one of the most tragic wars in history. The lowly "average joe" on the street was the one who suffered, although ultimately it did bring about the fall of many of Europe's royal and noble houses.
World War Two had a just cause, and the "good guys" didn't start that fight. In fact, the world tried everything to avoid it but were forced into the biggest conflict in history by the aggressors. There is nothing tragic about that, and everyone who gave their lives are true heroes.
Vietnam, well, we all know what a lie that was, and it was a true tragic war.
Iraq is the same. A tragedy where the lower classes suffer for a lie that was sold to them by the rich, who are simply getting richer.
You think we'd learn from history? Nope. One thing history has taught us is that no one learns from history.

WW2 was a moral war, as the allies were trying to stop genocide which would have spread across Europe.
WW1 was a property dispute which I think caused wounds in Europe which still haven't healed. Vietnam was wrong because of the premise that the Vietamese would be a danger to the US as they would be effectively run by the Chinese. This ignored the history of the Vietnamese people who always resisted and crushed Chinese invasions in the past. The Iraq war is not a war, but an action against a Dictator who no longer supported the US. When Saddam did support the US and sell them his oil, he was sold weapons od mass destruction by the US. He was also supported when Iraq was at war with another US enemy, Iran. When he invaded Kuwait and the Kuwait ruilers were American supporters all best were off.

All wars are tragic when it comes to people dieing.....
I think Iraq is not as tragic as the two world wars just because they were on the global scale. Millions of people died and the world's economy and politics were both heavily impacted on it's outcome.
Iraq and Vietnam just aren't on that scale.

No, statistically we are doing better against the enemy and losing less men and women than the other wars that you mentioned. Even though this enemy is the hardest enemy that we've ever had to fight because they don't care about themselves or anyone else. Politicians are politicians and only care about getting re-elected...that's all. (Both Republicans and Democrats)
