Some are like this, most are not - and yes some beleive they are entitled, but you will find that the majority have been reared with the strict upbringing of respect your elders. - You also need to remember that there are alot of people out there with mental illnesses that cause them to act this way, it isnt only a younger persons disease, older people find it a little more debilitating the the younger generations as they were raised with society thinking that they were unfit for the outside world.........also many do not get the medical treatment that they need, whether it be because it hasnt yet been dectected, shame, guilt or depression. Unfortunately there just happens to be some out there that abuse the fact that they are older - all you can do is continue to be polite - and hope that they see your example to others, and are ashamed by their behaviour. Its just good to be aware of the fact, that they may be being rude and dont realise it, because of an illness.

Maybe because the old people had a hard day at work, or they are in pain from whatever it took to get them there in the first place. They just want to get on the bus AND sit down. If you see one of us grumpy old people, tell us you will let us on the bus, first. If we seem tired and carrying a heavy load, offer to hold it for us. Sorry I have been so grumpy to you young folks. We have heard so much from our friends and news about the young being on drugs and mugging us, that we thought all of you were like that.

well you;ll find out as you get older.

older people feel left out of society,as they age.

they see the young people having all the fun, lookin pretty
and spending money.

the real grumpy ones are the ones that blew this time when they had it. they were nerds or had a full time job,or were just more responsible in their youth.or were married.

as we age in our minds,we are still young and attractive, till you get served in a store and the 20 something cashier asks you,
-do you have your seniors card- up until that point, you had
still thought you were hot,and desirable by the opposite sex.

reality has a crushing blow, because you don;t feel as old as you are,and you really feel, great until the way other people look at
you is felt.

you begin to feel useless.and that you can no longer contribute.

your daily goal is to get a good seat on the bus-train-subway,
cause you feel you deserve it, and that those young punks can
stand all the way home !

so now you know why you;ll be a line jumper
when you get older,

remember these words-------------------------------

one day they will come back to haunt you !

booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

If you are well mannered and polite as you say you are, then you know you should always let older people get on before you. I always do, so can't complain. I always give them my seat too, but I have found they will readily accept getting on the bus first, but if I offer my seat, some have answered with a laugh: I'm not that old!

I think its because they want to sit down and nowadays there aren't as many polite and well mannered people who will actually give up a seat for them. Also its harder for them to get off the bus if they have to sit at the back. But some of them are just so plain awkward and are definitely grumpy! lol

I know what you mean. Maybe they're in a hurry coz they havent got that much time left (why are they taking the bus then, I wonder)?! Maybe they've reached the point in their lives where they dont care a whit what other people think and feel. I was feeling a similiar kind of thing yesterday about women with strollers and 'granny trollies'.........why the hell do they push them like battering rams? I feel like punching them in t3h face sometimes.

They are probably worried that you will be rude to them from past experiences they have had with other young people, so they just push, before you get a chance to let them by.
I have worked with several seniors who are just downright cranky and mean, they have had unhappy lives and they are in pain physically, so they take it out on everyone around them.
Iwould just let it go, we will be old someday too.

well Amanda, my experiences with old people and buses. When i'm running to catch a bus and get about 10 yards away ,the bus usually drives off, but when an old lady is about 50 yards away the driver waits, very annoying.

I totally agree with you! And maybe it's a Spanish thing, but I really hate it when I'm queueing in the bank and just as it's my turn, some old granny comes rushing up and says that she's next but she left a moment to go and do some shopping!!!!
Really gets on my *****!
