OK! You know those REALLY lovely names you just LOVE but would never name your child? Tell me if I am crazy.... Do you think it is too crazy to spinoff the name to a slightly more normal version? Like, I adore the name Arabella (don't you? BEAUTIFUL!) but it's kind of a weird name, so what about Arielle? What do you think? Oh, and should all your kids middle names have a theme? Like, if I love to read, and far off in the future have kids, would it be too weird to name the middle names after my favorite charecters? Please no down right mean phrases, just honest opinions! Thanks!

Correct 2 answerer, but I do not want a child being the butt of a joke because I was too stubborn to give them an unusual name. Thank you for your opinion, but they are a person too, not a toy you can randomly name!

I think Arabella is a great name, it's okay to have an unusual name and I don't think that this one is to out there that kids would make fun of it. I like Arielle too, just not as much, as for the middle name, you could be creative with that as it's not used that often, your daughter could choose to let people know or not know her middle name in most social situations.

Arielle is a somewhat common name. It's Hebrew and means lion of God. I think it's a very pretty name.
And no - it wouldn't be weird to use nams from your favorite characters for middle names. Some folks pick names from lists on the internet, baby books or even by a, b, c, etc. Or name them all with the first letter the same. You've got to pick a name from somewhere, so why not names you really like?
The only thing I would avoid is a name that can be used to tease a child when they are growing up, or ones that rhyme with their last name.

Actually, I prefer Arabella to Arielle. I think it's a beautiful name! Not sure what it means, but the "bella" at the end means beautiful in Italian. Arielle makes me think of the Little Mermaid.
I think naming your child's middle name after your favorite book character is fine so long as it's not a weird name. For instance, if you named her Arabella Ahab (Moby Dick) THAT would be weird. LOL

Arabella was my great grandmother's name, I think it is beautiful and old fashioned sounding.
Having an unusual middle name is not as risky as the first name, because most people never know your middle name.
When you say your favorite characters, that could mean many things. Arielle (little Mermaid) would be OK. But Hulk probably would not be. See what I mean?

I think Arabella is beautiful and to change the spelling or version of the name will take away the beauty......... You can name your child anything you want whether it is strange or a character's name because you are the one who has to live with it. The only thing I can suggest when choosing a name is to not make the spelling complicated because people will mispronounce the name. Good luck!

Arabella and Arielle are both lovely names.
I like Kai, and Phoenix too.
Naming after characters is a great idea! I don't think middle names NEED a theme but they could have one.

I think Arielle is a little wierder than Arabella. It reminds me of the Little Mermaid. I think your idea for middle names is cute. I've gone by family names. My first daughter is the 7th generation on my mom's side to have the middle name MAE. Our next daughter will be named after his mom.

I was told this when I was pregnant. Go to a park and yell the child's name you want to use. If you feel comfortable, call your child that name. Personally I like the name Zina. I was "zina" before the warrior princess was even a thought.
