Because, the majority of us are taught not to from a young age. It is drilled into our brains from day 1 that we are not worthy.
Then, one day when you stop telling yourself how bad and wrong you are, you wake up with a strong taste of BS in your mouth.
The BS that society has fed you, that even your friends and family have fed you,... that you have fed yourself.
Then you spend the rest of your life trying to tell yourself that it's OK to believe in yourself, that it's OK to be right.

There is a difference between arrogance and confidence my friend.
Confidence sounds quiet, self-assured, happy, and not at the expense of others. And, confidence may speak, but it doesn't have to say very much!
Arrogance talks to much, becomes abrasive, loud, and overbearing. It mocks others perhaps without even intending to do so. And, it usually indicates a LACK of confidence, strangely enough.
In other words, arrogance, most often, is a cover up.
Simply talking about yourself is not wrong, just don't do too much of it, and try not to make a big deal out of it either.
The moment you know you've said enough, ask the other folks a question and you'll successfully shift the conversation away from yourself.

Saying something nice about yourself is often construed as arrogant, but in today's society there are times when we must. An example:
An interview for a job. We have to sell our good points.
I think that we have to understand though, that finding the right forum for when and where to say things is the key.
Are the ones listening to you, truly interested in hearing you talk about yourself? Like on a date, a little something here or there isn't out of line, but if you are among coworkers, do they really want to hear it? Would you want to hear it from them?
It's all a matter of timing, circumstances, and forum.
Arrogance would mean boasting while often putting someone else down, however, a little nicety here and there would not be amiss, if no one's feelings were being trampled in the meantime.

Because it 's true in your mind, and your mind only. Nobody says that you are not allowed to be arrogant. Go nuts, big boy.
We really do not have an opinion or reaction except to ignore this type of behavior.
Any man that claims to be the" future Savior of mankind" in his profile, like you did, is possibly dealing with a personality disorder, or illusions of grandeur, which keep you way out of touch with the general population. As a matter of fact, I guarantee that you think we are all wrong, and you are100% right, so as I say " rock on with your bad self"

A. Because a guy who is like that shows girls that a guy is in control, and he has strength and intestinal fortitude. This means he can't be played for sex and money.
B. Because it can get really annoying to the masses in general. They just want you to shut up and stop bragging. Maybe they think you're just overcompensating.
You can feel good about yourself, and take pride in your person, just don't be too loud or constant about it. You get the idea, right?

the issue is not being allowed to be ignorant but the fact is that you shouldn't be ignorant if really want to make a head way in life.
And about saying good things about yourself you can go ahead and say it if only they are true and are not said with pride.

take a brake have a joke;
A little kid walks into a city bus and sits right behind the driver and starts yelling, ''If my dad was a bull and my mom a cow I'd be a little bull.''
The driver starts getting mad at the noisy kid, who continues with, ''If my dad was an elephant and my mom a girl elephant I would be a little elephant.''
The kid goes on with several animals until the bus driver gets angry and yells at the kid, ''What if your dad was a drunk and your mom was a prostitute?!''
The kid smiles and says, ''I would be a bus driver!''

You are allowed to, but its not generally thought to be a good idea. Sometimes other people don't agree with you and other times they just don't want to talk about how good you are.

If it's true it ain't braggin'. However there is a difference between confidant and cocky. If I dress like I have a million bucks, that's confident. If I have a million bucks and make sure that everybody else knows it. That's cocky

there is a difference in saying good, and also postive things about your self and then being too cocky and arrogant.
