For sheer brilliance it has to be the final battle in "Return of the King" although any of the battles in the other parts would be contenders, especially when Orlando bloom slides down the balustrade loosing off about 20 arrows on his way down.
For laughs it would be Butch and Sundance versus (what appeared to be) South America.
BUT.........
The best fight sequence is most deffo, John Waynes fight in the Quiet Man. Two men one woman and about 100 acres of a boxing ring.

I would definitely have to say the Battle of Minas Tirith in Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. The sheer volume of men, orcs, haradrim, and uruk-hai surpassed 200,000. What a magnificent achievement for Peter Jackson!

I like all the battle scenes in "We Were Soldiers" , the battle scene in "Patriot" when Benjamin Martin (Mel Gobson),after the British officer murders his son, goes on the rampage. That was really good. and the opening battle scene in "Gladiator"

I love the fighting scene in the desert in the film, Lawrence of Arabia. Heard it took three years to film too.
