I am going to assume that you are in Las Vegas since you listed that city first. I would take I-15 south toward Califand when you get to BArstow, Ca, take RT-58 west to Mojave and then Bakersfield. Then take Rt-99 north to Tulare and pick up RT-198 and go into Sequoia National Park. Then take RT-180 through Kings Canyon (I drove through the Canyon, but its not as scenic as Yosemite) and then stay the night in Fresno (that's where we stayed). The next day leave Fresno and pick up RT-41 headed to Yosemite National Park. I heard that there was a rock slide that closed one of the roads in Yosemite so you should check with AAA or the National PArk service to see what is blocked. There are two roads out of Yosemite, RT-140 and RT-120, both of which will take you back to RT-99. Then head north on RT-99 up to Sacramento and spend the night in that area. The next day you have two options.
If you want to see LAke Tahoe and Reno, drive East on RT-50 from Sacramento to CArson City, Nv. Then follow RT-385 north to Reno. Spend the night and then head back west on I-80 over Donner Pass to Sacramento.

OR, just head West on I-80 and stop in the Napa Valley Wine country. When we drove this route we stayed in Vacaville which is west of sacramento and just a little east of Napa. Plan to take the Napa Valley Wine Train, it does lunch and dinner ...link is below.

If you are planning to go to several National Parks, you should get a Park pass; see link below.
After the wineries you can get to San Francisco in a couple hours (if the traffic is not bad).

Go straight through Nevada to Yosemite National Park.
From there check out Lake Tahoe, CA and Reno, NV., both great towns.
Then it's a straight shot to San Fran, with Sacramento to visit if you wish.
