It seems the rich can only afford to buy houses or pay highly expensive rent. For those whom live in Calgary,Alberta, what percentage do you think the homeless rate is going to happen this year alone? And how does that make you feel and if you are a working class person and as a consumer can you afford to rent or buy a house on the wage you are making now without taking on a second job?

a third world country? are you kidding me?

no, it's not

I work at a decent job, and am happily paying my rent. Mind you, right now I'm only 22...but I'm easily saving up money which I will use to by a house. No problems here.

Where did you get this info?

It seems to be that various governments in many countries and at many levels (federal, state, local, county and now you are even seeing associations that act like the FBI) are in fact draining the wealth from the citizens they are suppose to be serving.

I made a call to my local authorities a few times regarding a near by business violating the local noise ordinance in the city where I live. To my knowledge they didn’t respond until several complaints latter on different ocassions when I gave my name and asked for follow up. And then they didn’t issue a citation to the violating party. I have heard several stories that mimic this one where I live. Then they have the audacity to solicit me to donate additional funds to their fraternity. Yea, I’ll send a check right over….not to be confused with we'll send someone right out....

Anyway my point is that many businesses, health care institutions and a vast number (not all) of organizations are on the “take”…ethics are dwindling all in the name of higher profits and higher taxes…. A recent school levy was voted No in the district where I live so what did the school board do? They introduced it again within a few months (didn’t even bother to lower the rate), again it was voted NO, so what did they do, they put it on the ballot a 3rd time during a time when less voters would turn out (makes their special interest group a greater percentage turn out) and they didn’t lower the rate and it passed. My property taxes increased 50% more from what they were last year and I just read last week they will exceed their budget in 1 more year because they had to barrow money until the increase was received. Interestingly they leveraged the children’s sports activities in their threats for cuts more than they did administrative assistants. Are you beginning to see the smoke and the mirrors?

I will say this for Canada, at least it values humanity enough to provide health care to all it’s citizens, and if that’s a 3rd world country, we should all hope for at least that much. One last bit on this one, who are these people who label such humaities with stigmatic words for profit yet show up in churches on Sunday prentending to be all so holly?

What a rant huh….lol

I can honestly not see Canada becoming a third world country because we are not as bad as the states. There is still all kinds of land and tons more opportunities for work if people look in the right places. Big cities are big because that's where people automatically think that is where the money is but in fact if we were to look after our country we would still be far, far better than the states.

Well, not third world. This is also happening in the US as well. It will crush the middle class and pulverize the low income class. Social support for the homeless will rise. Middle class will have everyone in the family working and the bread winner will take on 2 jobs. It's happening now.
