My son had this and it was from damage in his ear canal. He is one who when he sneezes blocks his nose, the pressure of a cold and doing that made a "split" his ear canal. When the blood and fluid trickled INTO his ear he decided to scratch it with an unknown object and made it worse. Talk about ick.
He didnt even know there was a problem where usually this would send one into excruciating pain. Odd.
The MD gave him ear drops and a antibiotic, took about a week to hear normally again and is fine now. If she is is major pain it could also be a ruptured ear drum. I hope not but, Good Luck.

Any time that there is blood coming from the ear,and you can't visually see the source of it,such as a scratch, you should be taking them to the ER! Eardrums can rupture, and it is not something to mess around with. It is always best to get them to a doctor ASAP when something like this occurs.
