bats detect the presence of an obstacle by hearing the echo of the sound produced by them. this process is called sound ranging. as ultrasonic waves are used bcoz they have frquency above20000 hz and travel undeviated through long distances and can b confined to a narrow beam since they r not easily absorbed in an medium.light wave is a transverse wave.its a wave in which each particle of medium executes vibrations in the direction perpendicular to the direction of propagation of the wave. and sound wave is alongitudinal wave.its a wave in which each particle of the medium executes vibration about its mean position in direction of propagation of the wave.

Bats in absence of ears hear from their wings which acts like a radar and the vibrations emitted by their wings when reaches back to them after collision with an object in line to those viberations, are immidiately transferred to a web of nerves attached to its wings which forms the object inits brain. The speed of light is more than the speed of sound because light rays are energetic and requires no medium to travel but sound waves always reuire medium to travel and hence the sound energy needs a rider to travelon.

Bat have ears... they are located in the same place as any other mammal... on the sides of the head. Bats hear a different range of sound to humans, they detect much higher frequencies.

But they still have ears... whomever said they dont are crazy.

The speed of light is faster than sound because sound operates as one piece of matter hits another piece of matter... similar to balls hitting eachother. Light just passes through air because it does not use matter.
It is like comparing a bullet to a laser.

Bats don't hear, they use ecolocation. Speed of light and the speed of sound were just made that way...no one knows mine. I'm 12 and I know the answer to that, how can you not know that?

Most bats have big ears! and light travels faster than sound because it is electromagnetic waves in space rather than compression waves in matter, which is what sound is.
