Yeah, they joke about an Oscar being a curse a lot in the film industry. Let's see, there's Mira Sorvino, Cuba Gooding Jr., Marisa Tomei (she's still around but only in bit parts mostly), Roberto Benigni (very sad, he was so brilliant in Life is Beautiful), Adrien Brody (have you SEEN The Jacket? has anyone?!), Dianne Wiest, and Anna Paquin. Helen Hunt hasn't gone on to do much after winning, either. And what about Anjelica Huston?

Gwyneth Paltrow even went on record saying she thought producers were scared to approach her after she won for Shakespeare in Love. She did have a few close calls there with films like View from the Top and Duets, but ultimately seems to have righted herself well.
