i could ask a question about pie.....and people give a 3 week long explanation.....i just dont get it!

Unless the questions require only a yes or no, most of the questions need an explanation, that's why.
If you do not want to see long answers be specific in your asking. You'll see

Long answer people give your question more thought and time.
You can't stop it, occasionally some people will give long answers to questions that Your simple mind believe to be simple. If the question is very simple why are asking people for answers???
What's worse is the people who give 1 word responses that don't answer the question being asked, just for the 2 points. Soooo F-ing lame, my 2 points, my 2 points, they shouldn't get 2 points unless they first, make one.

Your question begs interpretation and it becomes subjective in nature. If you want a short, concise answer then ask for it. That gives the person answering the question alot of information beforehand. Information is the key. Most people cannot read the minds of others and have no clue as to what your preferences are.
