I doubt you would be able to use it in a shop, but a bank would change it. Go to the bank of England's web site and have a look.

Yes, it's an official UK coin. UK banks would accept it at any time.
It's to be expected that the marriage coin of 1981 has a greater value than the 5 pounds, ask a numismatic dealer.

Why would you want to use this unique coin, to spend? The coin was issued to celebrate the marriage of charles and diana, i would keep anything like this as diana is a very popular royal and anything with her face on it will be worth quite a bit in the future.
I have one, as a heirloom from my late grandfather. I see more of an sentimetal value.

Don't think you can use them but I would hand onto it. One of these things that will prob be worth quite a bit in years to come...Don't think there were too many of them made at the time and many of those will be lost by now.....I wouldn't try to cash it at a bank...i would hold onto it
