I think the directors should have stuck with an actor named Reeves to continue the tradition. Namely; Keanu Reeves!! I mean why not, he brought world wide attention to the "the Matrix" spoof. Surely I'd pay to see him buff up to prep for such a role as Superman. Keanu has both star power and acting talent which would bring Superman to new heights. 1st came George Reeves, then there was Christopher Reeves, why not there also be a Keanu Reeves? surely he would topple the box office charts with a single bound by leaping into the man of steel tights & cape. Why not? He flew awesomely through the skies as NEO. He also played a great dufus role in "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure." So why wouldnt he also be a good clumsy Clark Kent?

We've already seen Keanu fly......nothing new to be gained by playing Superman.

I'm a New Zealander so I would HAVE to say Keanu Reeves, but I love Johnny Depp almost just as much! They're both very attractive :D

They thought about it a long time ago actually, after plans with Nicholas Cage playing the pure-energy superman were dissed. I think they dissed it too, since K. Reeves just have to much of the Neo image in him. Plus he doesnt really fit well the good-intentioned, pillar-of-morality image he always looks like he had some grand, complicated, incomprehensible, unfathomable plans for a major world revolution where the end justifies the means, and hence they put him on Constantine instead.

Yeah I think they just wanted someone with some actual acting talent.
Superman isn't a role where the word "dude" is said a lot along with a head/neck movement similar to Michael J Fox's
