Like eating the body (of somebody who is going to die anyway) and drinking the blood (get alcoholized trying to imagine they are drinking blood)? Isn it canibalistic?

I don't know where you heard that, but you were misinformed. Christians are not in anyway canibalistic. They do not eat the body of anyone, nor do they drink anyone's blood. This is a silly notion.

The only thing I can even draw a parallel to in communion. Communion is something that most churches do that consists of eating a wafer and drinking a sip of wine or grape juice. The cracker symbolizes the flesh of Christ. It's symbolic of his sacrifice that he made for humanity. The wine or juice is symbolic of the blood he shed for us. "Thus do in rememberance of me"

I'm sorry that you were so misinformed. Christians don't believe anything like that at all. :)

It's symbolism. When we pledge allegience to the flag of the united states of america we don't actually mean THE FLAG itself, we mean the usa in general.

Besides, the whole communion thing is a little warped by the christians. The Bible nevber asked anyone to eat and drink the body and blood of christ. Jesus broke the bread, gave it to his disciple and said, "Eat this for it is my body (which he was currently using at the time and no one was taking a bite out of him at this dinner) given for you. He then took the wine, passed it around and said "Drink this. It is my blood, shed for you. Do this in rememberence of me". What he was saying when you think about it and remember that they were celebrating Passover at the time, which is a Jewish holiday and the Jewish faith is chock full of symbolism, what he was saying was remember me when you eat and drink, remember how I gave my life for you every time yuou sit down to stuff your face.

And, as a Wiccan, I totally object to calling Pagans cannibals!! We DO NOT eat humans or make animal sacrifices or anything lke that and anyone who thinks we do should take 20 mins and look up Wicca on the Internet and learn something.

I don't think pagans bothered with "the blood of " Odin, or Merlin... or any other. nor claim things like "this is the flesh"symbolic or not.
animal sacrifices were just that. not symbolic of eating your religions "hero" in fact, canabalism was disgusting to many pagans.

this question deserves the "question of the day"!!!
and I can't wait to read the answers!

Hello dear!
Cannibalism is when some species eats of its own kind!
Symbolism is another issues!
I do not want to defend Christianity, or any religion, but!!!!!
All religions as well systems have their symbolic activities and rituals!

You've just answered something for me. I allways thought that it was the actual blood and body but the protestant faith teaches that it is just a symbol. I couldn't see it as a symbol and allways thouhght of it as a reality. But, yea, it's just a symbol. It's not real.

A spectacular portion of the "Christian" rituals were absorbed from pagan practices...

As far as cannibalism-- talk to a Pagan-- I'm not up on all that.

Christians are followers of Jesus Christ.

Jesus taught that we must "love one another as I have loved you".

Canibaliism is not any part of the Christian religion, now was it taught or encouraged by Jesus..
