Hi bluediamond,
Dosth is used for both genders.
Saheli or Sakhi are other words that are solely feminine.

Aadhmi is masculine and aaurat is feminine.

PS: Aadhmi means man and aurat means woman;
the word for person is insaan.

in hindi .. a friend is called a dost ( whether male or female)

& a lady is called an Aurat or stri in hindi..

dost or "dhosth" as u say it.... cn be used for both feminine as wel masculine.
aadmi, or "aadhmi" 's feminine form is aurat.

'Sakhi' is the word for a female friend.....
'Aurath' or 'Sthree' for women
