Why are so many things in cartoons of the brand "Acme"?

Eg: Dynamites in Road Runner, and almost anything in Bugs Bunny and Tom & Jerry.

ACME is a generic company used by Warner Bros. cartoons. They used acme because if they used real company names, like Smith & Wesson, they would be open for lawsuits.

Because Acme is related to the word animated.
