Car manufacturing in general has gotten more expensive in the countries where the actual companies exist. by moving factories to poorer countries they maximize their profits by spending less on labor. The BMW and Volkswagon did the same thing. originally they had their factories in the United States, however Mexico had much cheaper wages. for instance the U.S standard was about 5.50$ per hour per worker for the lower level positions in the factory. Mexico on the other hand had a minimum of 3.50$ per hour per worker. therefor the companies opened factories in Mexico to maximize their profit.

BMW and Volkswagen later on moved their factories to parts of Asia where labor was as low as 1.50$ per hour per worker. Bottom line is that poorer countries have cheaper labor rates which help lower labor costs to maximize profits.

It is the key to make bigger profits.

If they can pay 150$/month and it is legal why would they want to pay more?

In a developing country, like Indonesia, have a minimum wage of 80$/month.
