i got typhoid when i went over to india and had this colossal pain in my stomach and because i was living in a little village, the local doctor was a hack. i had about twenty injections in my arm at one point, and i was throwing up everything that i was eating so they had to put me on a glucose drip. it took me two months to get better and when i did i looked like a skeleton.

Ironically, the closest I've been to dying was being born. My shoulders were too wide, so I got stuck coming out. I was left without oxygen for at least twenty seconds, and had I not finally come out, I would have died. The doctor was panicking, my mom was exhausted, and my dad had no idea what was going on. I've since seen shows on TLC about births, and apparently many babies who were in my same situation had died. As for me, I was lucky enough to suffer a sore shoulder for about a month after I was born. I also had jaundice, so I had to be put out in the sun for a little while every day. I was an all-around problem baby!

Sneezing.
Did you know that sneezing is the closest you will ever come to dying because of the sheer pressure put on your lungs?
Did you also know that if you sneeze with your eyes open, your eyeballs will fall out! That gives you some idea of how much pressure your body gets put under every time you sneeze.

Not long after my son was born, I was very ill with a temperature of over 104. When the doctor arrived, I was close to getting double pneumonia and within about half an hour of being rushed to hospital to intensive care.
I can remember talking to my grandfather, yet smelling my grandmother's eau de cologne. I wanted to go with my grandfather and he said I was welcome to, and that I would be able to watch over my son and look after him. However, he pointed out that nobody would be able to care for him as well as I could.
I do not know if that is what you mean, but it is probably as close as I have been to dying - and I decided not to. Oh, and the antibiotics worked very quickly, but my parents had to look after my son while my husband looked after me.
As a matter of interest, why are you asking?

that has to be drowning. It was when i was at a party with my baseball team when i was little and the coach was throwing money in the pool. So i was a dumb as s and then i jumped in and i almost drowned..so thats basically the closest ive been to dying...plus drowning is one of my biggest fears

Well me myself i haven't been close to dieing but once i had two friends OD on heroin at the same time. One guy was on the ground i thought he was just feelin good but i look up and the other guy is going into convulsions his eyes rolling in the back of his head so i pulled him to the cold shower and when to check on my other friend he was purple in the lips and face. I was panicked i never had to deal with this by myself before so i called a friend of mine and she made me hang up and call 911 so as I'm on the phone the operator guided me through CPR technique i kept having to bring him back to life then the paramedics finally got there and ended up giving him 2 shots of adrenaline to bring him out of the overdose. Really crazy sh*t to go through.

Pretty close driving on the busy roads of today, with all the ******** drivers about!
I can't even count all the near misses on one hand. I was about 4 foot away from getting a car travelling at 80mph hit the side of mine once.

Today I was ten feet from dying on the highway--181 times! Yes, 181 cars passed my car on the opposite lane, going in the other direction. That's181 potential head-on collisions. They all passed within ten feet of me. I just kept driving straight and survived them all. Phew!!!
