What's the best way to destroy CD's and DVD's so that they are unusable? A friend said to microwave them.

I find that if you put them away in a proper storage box, which you went out and spent good money on specifically so that you didn't have to have a load of DVD and CD boxes cluttering up your house, when you go to play them a few weeks alter they should be pretty useless

Give all the DVD & CD's to your Little Doggy. He will destroy them to eternity.
You can take a flint paper (sand paper) & rub as hard as you can.
Keep them all on a nearest railway track. The train will do the job.
Last but not least, finely chop them, fry them in Olive oil & put some red chillies/pepper, freshly cut onions/ capasicum & add salt to taste.

A few good scratches or scribbles with a magic marker should do it. Microwave could leave some stuff you don't want to eat later as it explodes.

take a pocket KNife stick it in the Middle hole and turn.....U bust the two layers apart then burn scratch or what ever.......cuz think of it this way...if ya burn and they get there in time b4 loss of data they can recover anything......so if you bust the two layers apart then **** it up there is no possible way they can recover any form of the cd exept the plastic not the data.....the data makes up of a Metallic sheet and is between two plastic layers the burned side and the label side.

Use a sharp pair of scissors and cut them into tiny bits works everytime 4 me

To totally destroy them you should burn them. Anything less and the FBI can recover data..not that I hide things from the FBI.

microwaving them would be quick and amusing. about three seconds and they make light and colors

Burn them baby. becuase if you melt them to a small ball no one have an clue what they were so there no way then can try retrive stuff.

how about scratching them on the rough floor? or drive way? or even brekaing them in half?
