It's not at all reliable and if you cannot take the pill for medical reasons then i suggest you discuss other contraceptive methods with your GP or surgery nurse. I have to say best option would be condoms! I know some people are also allergic to condoms but Durex has quite a range including condoms made from different texture that do not provoke any allergy.

You could go on their web site? Another good source of information is the GUM clinic at your nearest hospital. Don't worry you won't look to conspicuous there either! Waiting rooms are now shared so that patients and relatives waiting for apointments do not have the faintest idea about other patients. There is no stigma attached to it and staff are always happy to help you with information and not only that! They also listen to you! So you get a chance to tell them how you feel about various methods. Then again you have the Family Planning Association but i do feel the GUM clinic would offer more help.

Take care

Best wishes

The Effectiveness of Withdrawal as a means of Contraception

The withdrawal method of birth control, also known as coitus interruptus or “the pull-out method” has an average failure rate of 19% for adults. For teens, the failure rate is even higher (31%). When a man has an erection, pre-ejaculatory fluid seeps out from the penis before he reaches orgasm and it is possible for sperm to be present in this fluid. Additionally, the man may not withdraw in enough time to prevent semen from escaping into the vagina. Even a minute quantity of semen can cause a pregnancy. Statistically, this means that each year about 1 in 4 users of this method will experience an unplanned pregnancy

I have been using that method for 5 years now and i haven't gotten pregnant but i did last year but miscarried

Not very reliable at all.
If women use the withdrawal method every time they have sexual intercourse and do it perfectly every time, it is 96% effective. This means that if 100 women use the withdrawal method all the time and always do it perfectly (which is almost impossible), 4 women will become pregnant in a year.
If typical women use the withdrawal method, it is 81% effective. This means that if 100 women use the withdrawal method, but do not use it perfectly, at least 19 women will become pregnant in a year.

Not reliable at all, even condoms and the pill are not 100% effective against pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases....only abstinence is 100% effective against all these things...in saying that though if you are going to have sex be careful and lower your risks by using a condom and the pill.

It's not reliable at all and VERY risky. The man exerts tiny amounts of semen prior to ejaculation so there is no way of guranteeing contraception. ALWAYS be careful and use something.

Not too reliable.
Small amounts of sperm are released BEFORE the man ejaculates. This means that you get sperm in you, even if he pulls out on time.

Plus, you have to count on the man to pulll out when he's supposed to....

A condom is easy and effective.

Precum is always in existence. There is always a chance that it will come out before and during sex. It only takes 1 and precum is filled with sperm!
