Think of your favorite hobby. Mine is reading science fiction. Apply learning math to your favorite hobby. It could be baseball or anything. Try and remember that Math is like a truly universal language. Don't think of math it as numbers like letters, but as numbers that are letters that make words with meaning in the real world.

Make Maths seem lively by integrating it into your general life. You can use multiplication to add many things that are same. You can use division also for sharing your favorite things equally among your friends. If you are in middle school, take variables as something specific e.g if you are given a variable x, think of it as a book, if given y, take it as a pen. try adding or subtracting both will let you reason if your answer is right.
Also, common sense also helps. Math is all common sense, @ least for your levels. The way you add, subtract, divide and multiply money, you can do Maths like that also.
Very important: You need to have someone good in Math in your life too, to help you with the hard parts, and to explain better to you. Help here alone wont suffice.
Take care.

Read books that are not textbooks. Puzzle books are good. Try looking for "Recreational Math" books.
Also, when you find a topic that is interesting, do additional research on it at the library.
When reading your textbook, ask yourself if you could extend the idea further than the book talks about. Can you make up your own puzzles or problems on the topic?
Draw pictures of the problem, use colored pencils to help make things clearer.
Can you build models of paper string, or other materials?
What I find most interesting about math is how you can follow a logical series of steps and come to a totally unexpected result!
Have fun!

Mathematics alone serves to no purpose.
Math is used for modelisation of different phenomena. For ex. it will use a similar set of equations for “predator-prey” ecological models and for “seller-buyer” economical models; the algorithms used during the WW2 for intercepting the German bombardiers over England (keeping an maximal reaction capability in reserve, but minimizing the damage) can be use to planning production and maximizing profit or minimizing expenses. And all these can be done, in simplified version, whit (almost) elementary math. You can use probabilities for “educated guess” in gambling… and in time the world around you will become les “random”.
Remember though that this will increase your chances of success in life while decreasing the chances of being happy :)

First self interest is required. Then go on studying math and doing math to understand what u studied. If you are stopped without understanding any point. Take the help of others/books/web sites to understand it. If you have forgotten any point in basic math, dont leave it. Go to work on the concept. Start rebuilding yoursef from basics. When you are able to go forward successfully, automatically you feel interesting in Math. Good luck. Swamy

You will only be interested in mathematics if you can answer the mathematical problems correctly... You should learn the easiest part of mathematics first. And if you already understand its basic, you can easily answer those simple questions... Then you can learn more if you're already interested to it.

Apply it to something you enjoy; money, art, sports, cars, etc...
My cousin hated math but loved art, at her school they offered a class that associates the two together and she learned and enjoyed learning it.
Good Luck!!!

use music to associate the equations. Relate formulas to rhythms. Music is more easily processed than figures.
