After I imported the Impreza GF1 from Japan, it was very fast and was performing optimally. I gave the car to a friend and on return, the cars capability to pick up speed was so compromised, and it was struggling to pick up speed from one gear to the next.
I changed the engine oil, fuel filter, oil filter, plugs, battery, air filter with new subaru spares but the situation did not change so much. Please help me understand which engine oil is good for my car. Currently, i'm using Caltex - Formula (i havent crammed the grade).
How can I boost the cars ability to pick up speed??
Thanks for yahoo answers...

Check your exhaust system---my Impreza slowed to a crawl when I got a leak I didn't know about in the exhaust. Got it fixed----speed was back---oohhh, and ----dump the friend.

10W30 on these engines. Open the motor up....allow it to breathe. That will get you the ability to pick up speed. Lighten it up if you can too. Subarus aren't over engineered with all that crap that adds weight, but I'm sure you can find something. Then put on a performance air filter, exhaust header, and dual pipes. Your engine will breathe unrestricted and be able to generate quite a bit more horsepower. Also sounds like the fuel filter is plugged up. Sounds like he drove the sh#% out of it.

Check out AMSOIL at: http://www.firstandfinestsynthetics.com/
They offer the BEST synthetic lubricants for ANY application. Motor oils ( including cars, trucks, motorcycles, RTVs, diesel, and marine ), Gear lubes, Greases, and Automatic transmission fluids. As well as, air and oil filters, Bosch spark plugs and a variety of cleaners, and additives.
Only slightly more expensive than, say, Mobil 1 but also better. AMSOIL has written proof in labratory testing, done to compare the various qualities of AMSOIL against the other leading synthetic oils including Mobil 1, Castrol, Royal Purple, Golden Spectrum and more.

If these results were "unfairly biased" or inaccurate in any way, don't you think that these other companies would dispute the results or bring the inaccurate statements to light ? The reason that they don't is because they CAN'T.
In addition to the laboratory testing , there are also professional endorsements and satisfied customer testimonials to consider ...

But, the best proof that AMSOIL is the best product for your vehicle comes when you try it for yourself and, like everyone else who has tried ( including myself ), you SEE the improved performance, increased MPG, lower operating temperatures, less engine noise and $$$ savings with AMSOIL's "extended drain interval" of up to 25,000 miles !
Check it out, look at the information and compare. Youre going to change your oil anyway, if youre satisfied with "good" oil, then go to WalMart or your local auto parts and buy "good oil". If you want the BEST synthetic oil, with the proof to back it up, go to ....
