Lets call all these things as 'Earth-Abuse' in totality. It is good that you ask for concern for it, but I think just having concern for it doesnt matter anymore....we have to see what steps we are taking to stop Earth-Abuse. We can start from our home itself. I will tell you in a few points what I do to save resources:

1) I go to nearby market by foot not on my bike.

2) I go to a nearby town on bike and not by car.

3) I regularly maintain my vehicles so they dont over-pollute. Also I dont over horn, to reduce noise-pollution.

4) I take my bag with me for shopping and refuse to take groceries in plastic bags.

5) If somehow I get some plastic bags in home I reuse them to store other items.

6) I staple used papers and give it to my kid for drawings on reverse unused side.

7) I dont through away any kind of paper in dustbin. I collect all and sell them for recycling.

8) I have grown many plants and small trees in frontyard to get fresh air.

9) If I see anyone anywhere making mess of resources, I try to stop him.

10) I switch off electric appliances when not in use.

11) I have installed CFLs that uses very less electricity.

12) I take bath from bucket and not from shower.

13) I use dirty used water to water plants.

I am not sacrificing anything. I am enjoying my life. Its only that I take care not to create trouble for My Earth. I may not be able to do something Big for stopping Earth-Abuse but atleast I make sure that I am not increasing it. I hope there are few more in this world who do something for Earth and are not JUST concerned.

No, not really. The human race isn't going to last forever anyway, it's conceited to think otherwise. As long as it goes after i'm dead and gone, what do I care? Not to mention, the earth was here before us, it'll be just fine after we're gone, too.
