Some babies *never* crawl, but for those who do, average is 6-11 months. See sources section for details.

I wouldn't worry too much about when your baby is going to crawl. This is more like an optional stage so babies don't even need to crawl and may just go straight into walking. My just turned 8 month old just started to crawl a few days ago and it is only because I have her on the carpet playing with her toys while I get chores done so she has a lot of time to practice. Around 7-8 months though I noticed that babies are a bit more physically coordinated so your baby will either be able to stand up holding on to something or get on his or her's hand and knees to try to reach something (usually something they aren't supposed to be playing with) out of their reach. I would be very careful though around this time too and be sure you have your baby's play area set up safely to prevent choking.

A book I found extremely helpful is What to Expect The First Year. It has all sorts of answers to things probably never even thought of. Hope this helps.

According to "What To Expect In The First Year", it's between 6 to 9 months.

My baby is 9 months old now and he only just started to crawl last month. (He prefers to stand and cruise.) He was the slowest to learn to crawl in his class at Gymboree (Playgym). Some of the other babies were crawling at 5-6 months!

I'm not too concerned though...I never crawled as a baby. My mom says one day I just kind of got up and walked. Your baby will do whatever he likes best! No worries!

Well each child is different. My oldest didn't crawl until he was a year old but my youngest crawled at 9 months. Then my some of my nephews have crawled at 7 months. There are 18 grandkids in my family so I would have to say with an average of them it would be about 9 months is normal but just remember each kid is different.
