I know in the uk that if you are employed for 26 weeks by the time the pregnancy is 25 weeks the government pay you through your employer for 2 weeks leave at about £106 a week. i also think that (same as maternity) you may be able to make a claim direct from the jobcentre if you have not been employed for this long.
the website i have lised will help you with all your questions.

I don't think so you have to be employed for more than 6 months - but check with your employer they will tell you if you are entitled or not. Congratulations by the way.

You don't say where you live.... men are entitled to statutory paternity leave here in the UK, but it is all unpaid. I think its either a week or two weeks... go to the DTI web page if you live in the UK, the most recent rulings and laws are published there.

I doubt it. You can however take a weeks vacation if you have that much vacation time. Thats what my fiance did. If he would have taken a week paternity leave, he wouldn't have gotten paid. The week vacation he was able to get paid.
