my friend. philosophy is all about meaning. what do people mean when they build such civilizations? what does it mean to be alive? What does it mean to evolve through time and space? It therefore seems to me that philosophy is not a scientific discipline, but it is the sharing of our various thoughts on these subjects, building on our shared reality for better communication of our state being. Knowledge!
How does it come? According to many, from science, which includes observation, study, repetition, etc. Also, knowledge comes from other ways, like through genes, instincts, etc.
Thus, one of the goals of Philosophy is to attain knowledge, but other, more important goals include the prompt use of this knowledge and, in general the improvement of living standards and anything contributing to make people happier, healthier, better, while protecting all species, the environment, etc.

The supposition is quite incorrect. That philosophy is a science - a super science though - is not correct and not accpted now. Philosophy is different from science in respect of both method and content. Philosophy is conceptual whereas science is factual. [Please be aquainted with the twentieth century conception of philosophy and appreciate this. Please refer especially A.J.Ayer's THE PROBLEM OF KNOWLEDGE.]
