A lot of ID Theft is happening through transactions via Debit Cards. They pretty much take your card when you swipe a machine they rigged and create a new one with a new password. You won't notice it until they take money from your account via ATM machines. They took almost a thousand dollars from me, but my bank gave me that money back, and they took a loss. I just wished that I was able to catch them. That way no real money was lost. Now, I try to stay alert. It's tough when we're living in daylight, and they're in the dark.

Well, everyone has been scammed on some level. I used to work at a car dealership in the make ready department. I did window tinting. The scams at that place were everywhere. I don't think a single customer got thru without be scammed on some level. Personally, I almost got scammed. I would have fallen for it if I had the money. When I was 19 I had thought up some invention idea. Seemed doable back then but today I can see the flaws in it. I contacted one of those invention companies you see on TV. I got a callback from them and an appointment to discuss my invention. I got in and it was a sales pitch for them to prepare my patent application. For $1500 (in 1990 dollars) they would fill out the forms for me. For a higher amount, they would do the research for me. They of course told me how wonderful my invention was and how it would change the world and make me rich beyond all dreams. Alas, I did not have close to the amount. I went to a bank and my lack of credit and money killed any chance to get a loan. I was out of luck. I had to finally tell them that there was no way I could pay that. Later, I discovered in the public library that a patent application was not that hard and a few hours work could have allowed me to finish one. $1500 for such a service was major overkill. They probably had the application in a word processor and could fill it out in a few minutes by just filling out a few forms. I lucked out on that one. Since then I have had my guard up a bit more and tried to learn more about various scams.

Yes. My wife promised me 3-4 hundred dollars a month if we bought a house. Haven't seen the first check two and a half years later. The cost of the mortgage payment over the apartment rent is almost $600.

When some friends of mine were vacationing in Thailand, someone told them about a gem sale where they could buy gems dirt cheap and resell them in the US at a large profit. They spent most of their vacation money on near-worthless gems. They filed a complaint with the Thai government and got most of the money back.

Yes, ebay, and no I didn't get it back. Of course to pursue something in Taiwan doesn't make much sense to me though. Oh well it was only 30.00 but its the principle of it...
