A hit is a quick puff (where you don't take that much smoke in), a drag is a deep puff (where you take more in)
I done forgot to tell you that I come from a family of smokers.

well i know a drag is a "pull " of the cig but i always assumed a hit was related more to heavier drugs. but they are just slangs used to basically say "can i take a puff of your cig"...then again "puff" could also be slang...it all means the same thing.

Because when they smoke, the brain gets slightly damaged after each cigarette, so he's only capable to hit or drag people.

they're all attempts to describe the act of inhalation.you do actually get a hit or a rush as the nicotine enters your lungs and poisons your blood and you drag on the cig, to get the smoke into you to satiate your craving for the nicotine and get release from it like any drug addict you need your hit.
