There are Bigfoots. Actually there are two seperate categories here. Bigfoots and Hairy humanoids. Most of the sightings of hairy giants can be categorized into one of these two categories. Bigfoots are from 6 to 9 feet tall, leave footprints that have 5 toes, and are probably a distant human relative. Hairy humanoids are from 4 to 12 feet tall, leave footprints with from 3 to 8 toes, emit a horrid stench, have red glowing eyes, and have been seen walking through walls and dissapearing into thin air. Im being serious here. Some 'Bigfoot' sightings are so whacked out that the Hairy Humanoid category has come into existance. I think that there is probably some ancient hominid cousin that is hiding in the deep woods and highest mountains. Gigantapithicus (wrong spelling) is probably the one. We have fossil evidence that it existed along side humans as recently as twenty thousand years ago in Asia. They were big, plant-eating, bipedal primates. We assume that their social structure was more like an apes than like a chimps, like ours. Some Cryptozoologists (people who study Cryptids, or mysterious beasts) have suggested that some of these primates have survived and are our 'Bigfoot'. As for the Hairy Humanoids, I have my own theories about them.

Hey, since Weekly Reader days in grade school I've been scared of aliens and Bigfoot or Sasquatch. I don't know if they are real or not, but there is evidence for both to be real. I don't like anything that can freeze me with a beam of light or a creature that can chase me down, rip my arm off and beat me to death with it. Until they prove there isn't such a beast, I'll say they do exist. Just to save my arm and life.

Personally, I believe they are real and merely an "undiscovered" species that has yet to be proved as real due to lack of physical evidence. Most sightings have been in remote, desolate, wooded, undeveloped regions where their is usually little human activity.
The coelecant was thought to have been extinct for 50 million years until one, then many, around the coast of South Africa.
Despite the above, though, I do think the video from around the 50's that has been touted as footage of Bigfoot is fake.

One day I was driving along at night on the mirror lake highway in Utah when something ran infront of me. I hit the brakes, and swerved to miss it. In doing so I hit a large pothole off to the side of the road, immediatly puncturing my tire, I just felt lucky I did not hit into a nearby tree, or go into the creek (wouldn't have happened where I was at, but could of if I was just a few hundred feet ahead when this happened).
I could not tell what had run out infront of me on the road, but just figured it was a dear or moose, maybe a bear. When I got out to change the tire I smelled an odd odor, kind of like a musky animal, again thought nothing of it.
While in the process of changing the tire I noticed something off in the distance, upright, and just standing there. Again I thought nothing of it, believeing it to be a plant of some sort. I heard a branch snap and looked up again to see the thing moving. It was walking much like a man, only a little more stooped over. It was moving pretty fast, but appeared to be in slow motion. I think this was due to his large pace, it covered a lot of ground per step, but definitly was in no hurry to get where it was going.
I jumped back into my car and hid in the passanger side place where your feet go. I locked the door and covered myself with a coat to hide. I stayed in this uncomfortable position rarely moving to stretch a limb, when absolutely necessary. I tried even to decrease my breathing in case it could sense my movement. As it became light out I became a little more brave. I peaked out the windows and saw nothing. I climbed out of the car when it was fully light out and looked to see if I could find footprints to prove I had seen bigfoot. I found nothing though, the soil was too dry. I finished changing the tire, and continued the rest of my trip to Salt Lake.
I have told few people of this experience, and most people believe me that I saw something, but most say that either it was a bear, or a person dressed up as a prank. Having seen it walk I believe it truely was a bigfoot.

We have not discovered every species out there. Some species go extinct before we even discover them. Bigfoot is some very shy, very endangered species. Maybe there are only a few hundred individuals left.
