A common bad habit, some people may find it annoying though. For a while it was thought that cracking knuckles lead to arthritis but research has disproved that. From what I've learned, the worst thing it does is makes your knuckles bigger. If you don't see the effects now, you will later on in life. Trust me, I've seen my parents' hands.

A lot of people still think it gives you arthritis I see......

Cracking knuckles actually helps because when you crack your knucles the cracking sound is the trapped air escaping allowing release of pressure from affected knuckle. Is not harmful in any way.

No

It is like the myth that when you sit to close to the tv your eyes will go bad.... It's the other way around. If you sit close to the tv you HAVE bad eyes.

Same with the knuckles. I do and my 'knuckle-doctor' told me there was no evidence that doing it makes it worse. What you do is the problem, if you don't it actually hurts.

its funny when you read about people who say they got arthritis and carpal tunnel from popping knuckles. there has been no scientific connection between the two but because people heard their mom and granny say it, its their law.
if a person develops joint conditions or other problems with the hand there are other causes or a hereditary predisposition for the condition. don't let them tell you otherwise. these beliefs are the result of ignorance and the refusal to recognize the significance of scientific research.

YES!!!! dont do it. I did for a long time and it eventually led to (not this alone other things contributed as well) developing Carpal tunnel in my wrists. And I can tell you that its not a fun thing to have. It hurts and it's VERY hard to heal from. (for those that do heal from it) Very bad habit, I suggest you stop doing it.
