Gross. I don't think he stood a chance with her, even when he wasn't so obviously wallowing in his own problems. Love the books though, and I think their relationship as friends (and sometimes just co-workers) is great. (Especially in the last book - the animosity that he seems to feel toward her, and she's just oblivious, if not to his attitude then to his problems.)
In that genre, Robin Cook is okay or James Patterson. I'd also recommend John Sandford's Prey series if you haven't tried it. Not so much with the medical examiner, but the detectives are great characters and the tone of the books is the same - sometimes light, sometimes dark.

I don't think so. He seems to be getting more and more slovenly with each book. And she is so particular about how things should be. Anyways, I love Patricia Cornwell (as long as Scarpetta is in the book!) and I also like James Patterson, Jonathan Kellerman and Tess Garritsen (not sure of spelling on last.)

I would recommend the Lincoln Rhyme series by Jeffery Deaver. My favorite in the series is The Bone Collector but all of them are spell binding.
Patricia Cornwall's Scarpetta series is also high on my list of favorites along with James Patterson. Enjoy they are all good.

They better not! Marino has just gotten to the point that he annoys the heck out of me and I want to tell him to grow the heck up!
For other books along these lines, Janet Evanovich are okay and the Sue Graffton books (the alphabet books) are really good too!
