No. It is still the companies property and they have a right to know where it is at all times.

That is an interesting question! With technology going in all directions these days privacy is important to protect.

However, the vehicle is the property of the company and therefore they have the right to be able to track its use and location.

If you are going to go where you do not want them to know, I recommend you get another car (borrow, buy, what-ever) to travel to those locations.

You can ask the company to put in a switch because of your concerns, but that will likely raise suspicions about your off-hour habits.

Even with a switch you could run into someone from the company at your private location so privacy is only an illusion at best.

If you are allowed private use of a company vehicle, the company still has an interest in how the vehicle is being used. They are still liable for accidents and also have to pay for repairs.

The employee has the right to a privacy switch. This is activated by switching your butt from the company car into the car that you own!

No. The employer has a right to know where their asset/vehicle is at all times.
However, a good auto electrical would be able to install an on/off switch in the car for you.
Just ask him to find the power feed for the locator unit and then splice in an on/off switch.
I hope you do not get fired when your employer eventually finds out (they always find out) ...
