i mean...if the kids learns the from tv show that they don't need to listen to their parents...doesn't that promote a defient and rebelious if not arrogant attitude for the child...then when that child grows up he/she sees no need to respect authority because they are raised as if they are smarter than older people...

hmm tuffy,
to be honest I think I actually was smarter than my parents on a lot of things I did a whole lot more then they think I did and never did get caught....UNTIL I got in the real world, after a few tickets and a couple of girlfriends thought I was a total JERK (which I admit I was) I learned real quick about being arrogant or otherwise. I let my kids watch a lot, but they know the REAL reality is at home,
Good Luck and God Bless

Rebellion is simply caused by testing the parents limitations and boundaries. Keep your line, but listen to them if they feel your rules are unduly fair. It's good to listen to their side of the story. Model good communication skills and they won't have any problems in the future.

And if you don't like the shows, then turn the t.v. off. We watch too much anyway. Do an activity that activates their brains in a positive direction.

Age does not equate to intelligence. However, I do agree that television is a negative on influence on ALL people and distorts reality of the world in which we live.
