We are so used to using internet search engines like Yahoo to assist us in locating a certain website, product, information, place etc. What will happen if there isn't a single search engine in the internet?

Without any search engines, the Internet would not be what it is today. It would be difficult to find answers and I would envision that people would set up sites that gave you cross-references to various subjects. However, it would never be an adequate replacement for the true search engine.
We have to appreciate those companies that spend the big bucks for doing the providing the search engines.
We can put up with some of their advertisements to provide that service!

No I cannot imagine the internet without search engine the reason being is one does not know about the sites which the search engine provide us .

Yeah...I can imagine it because I was there in the early days when there were none or very crude ones.
Can you imagine NO INTERNET??? Actually having to go to the library to look up stuff??? Maybe NEVER being able to find out who sings a certain song...and the only way to hear music is to buy a CD/tape/record????
People today are sooo spoiled thanks to the internet.

Every website will have a super big section devoted to nothing but links ... directory to be exact ... it will soon grow so big that we will have to categorise the directory. But it will still be too big too quickly that it becomes difficult to scroll and go through line by line ... hey we need a way to find links quickly ... and here you have it ... Search Engine 3.0 ...

I can very well imgane the net. But without a search engine, it wouldn't have the power it holds today.
