I think that Disney World offers better promotions for staying onsite. I think Disneyland advertises offsite hotels more than Disney World. The hotels at Disneyland, if staying onsite, is more expensive than Disney World. I think you have a lot more options of where to stay offsite at Disneyland than Disney World.
Tickets at Disney World are also less, if you buy a length of stay pass. The dining plan is also a lot less and, in my opinion, a better plan.
As far as once you are in the area. I think the things around Disneyland, food and such is going to be a little higher than Disney World. Once you are actually in the parks, I think you spend about the same for food and souveniers.
Also, depending on where you are from, air is likely to be higher to California.

I feel like DisneyWorld offers more bang for the buck - especially with hotel options and such. Overall, on merchandise, prices are about the same. Disneyworld has much more to do and the property is much larger. A week at Disneyland is way too much, there are only two parks and California Adventure barely takes up a day - and Disneyland park takes up maybe two days. Disneyworld, on the other hand, has the 5 parks plus 2 water parks, disneyquest, and pleasure island. There is more to do so you end up staying alot longer - and their ticket prices are MUCH better the longer you stay. Also, if you are visitng Disneyworld you should try and see if their new Dining Pass is for you - it's something like $34.00 a day and you get one sit down meal, a counter service meal, and a snak with that $34.00 (which includes tip). For some families/travelers this might be worth it!
Anyway, hope this helps!

No, Disney World has more to offer than Disneyland so you might pay a little more but you're getting more by going to Disney World over Disneyland.

Well, Florida, as a whole, is cheaper than California. Cost of living is less and overall, a trip to the grocery store is much less expensive than shopping anywhere in California. Florida's minimum wage is about $2 less than California's, so it kind of balances out if you live there.
Disney World, however, is not any cheaper than say Disneyland. Their prices are just as high as in California.

Not from my experience. You can get better deals on hotels around Walt Disney World, but if you want to stay on property you won't find any savings.
